“Values to Live By: Today, Tomorrow and into the Future”

Normita Feliciano Fenn  Class 1958

Magandang hapon po at maligayang bati sa ating Kagalanggalang na pinuno ng bayan ng Morong, Mayor Jorge Bernardo, mga Kababayan, mga magulang, kaibigan, mga panauhin at mga kagalanggalang na pinuno ng iba’t-ibang paaralan ng Morong at mga pinuno ng ating paaralang Tomas Claudio Memorial Elementary School; sincere thanks to the teachers and administrators for their hard work and dedication in educating our young people; greetings to the Sangguniang Bayan for their partnership with the school in providing a safe environment; at maligayang bati rin po sa mga magulang sa kanilang pagpupunyagi sa ikalalago ng karunungan ng kanilang mga anak; and I wish to congratulate the graduates of Class 2004 as we send them on their journey to another phase in their education.

This day is a great day for our young graduates and for all of us gathered here.  As I watched your parents walk with you side by side, I am reminded of my own graduation in this very school.  As the youngest of twelve children, I can still feel the pride and joy of my Tata and Inang as they watched me receive my diploma fifty years ago, as a graduate of Class 1954 of Tomas Claudio Memorial Elementary School.  Many years separate us, and yet we share the same memories that this great institution gave us: memories of youth and innocence, anxious to learn, looking forward to the day to be free from the nurturing arms of our elementary teachers, feeling a sense of adventure, filled with the same uncertainty of what tomorrow may bring, but ready to move on to the much-aspired “high school” across the way.

In your studies, modern technology awaits you, opportunities are limitless to reach beyond the horizon.   In high school you will have the choice to prepare yourselves to pursue many different fields of endeavor.  Whatever choice you make, pursue it to the best of your ability, guided by the values you learned from your parents and teachers.

Sa inyong paglalakbay, lagi ninyong aalalahanin ang mga naituro sa inyo ng inyong mga teachers and the basic values you learned at home.  The values of being honest, being fair, being respectful and compassionate, helping others; these are important values that you will need everyday in your dealings with your family, friends, classmates, teachers and neighbors.

As soon as you leave this gathering tonight, look up in the sky with a prayer, thanking your parents and teachers for their love and blessing.   Remember that they will always be a part of your youth and adulthood, that they gave you the basic foundation to make your lives productive and meaningful.

My dear graduates, I celebrate this night with you, with a gift to our school:  a computer equipment to help the administration office in their efficiency; and a gift of a red rose to each and everyone of you to present to your parents as you walk down the aisle, remembering the message I imparted to you.  With hopes that someday you can also stand and share this message to future generations of Tomas Claudio Memorial Elementary School graduates.

Salamat po at Mabuhay sa inyong lahat!
