Normita
Feliciano Fenn served for two terms as President of the MHSAAI-Northern
California Chapter from 2001 to 2004. During her tenure as president, she
introduced a number of initiatives, such as recognition award for outstanding
alumni service, education program to support schools, creation of an alumni
directory database, and implementation of a wide spectrum of
relationship-building programs. The chapter also revived an election procedure
that encourages participation of alumni members to pursue leadership positions
in the association. Today, these initiatives and programs live on, making
certain the harmonious relationship between alumni chapters, schools and
community.
Through her exemplary management skills and unflappable enthusiasm, Normita championed dialogue and cooperation between alumni chapters, including the Philippine Chapter. She is a founding member of the MHSAA Advisory Council that enhanced the overall effectiveness of the alumni association. Her support of Dr. Avelina Teston-Llagas’ book, “Morong High School, a Living Legacy” helped establish the URS Teacher Education Scholarship Program (TESP). Normita led and succeeded in the lobbying efforts to retain the name “Morong High School” under the URS umbrella. She developed and maintains a website for the association: www.mhsaainc.org. She has been speaker at various commencement exercises in Morong and at her collegiate alma mater, the Golden Gate University (GGU) in San Francisco from where she earned a BA Degree in Management and MBA in Marketing.
While living in Hawaii, then-Governor Ben Cayetano appointed Normita to the State Civil Service Commission. She also served as Secretary of the Hawaii Fresh Milk Industry and worked for Aloha Petroleum and Foremost Dairies in management positions. Upon her return to California, she served on the GGU Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2002-2006 and was president of the board, and a member of the university’s Board of Trustees from 2005 to 2006. During her term, she implemented the first-ever strategic plan for the alumni board, which was highly regarded by the university. Normita was the first recipient of the university’s prestigious “2006 Volunteer of the Year Award” for exceptional service to the university through volunteer activities.
Normita serves the Morong community in many ways. Her letters to the company that was constructing a highly-contested cell phone tower in the center of Morong a few years ago helped change the course of that project. She acts as a communicator for events with passion and skills in electronic community journalism. She is the editor of the Morong Balikbayan Association newsletter and web master of the Morong Balikbayan Association website: www.mbassninc.com. Her involvement extends to working to establish the “Morong Historical Society”, now in initial phase.
Normita had a long and successful career with General Electric Company, where she held positions in sales and marketing. She has a daughter Shirley Alejandro who works for AT&T. She is married to Robert Fenn, a graduate of University of California, Berkeley, College of Engineering, and is the proud honorary grandma of Kaitlin, Ryan, Avery and Conner Fenn.
