The Morong High School Alumni Association, Inc. is proud to recognize our fellow alumni who for years have dedicated their time and effort in helping our Association grow, while impacting our community, our schools, our fellow alumni and their families.  They have consistently demonstrated their own unique dedication, leadership, teamwork, creativity, network and volunteerism, all done with an unwavering commitment to the ideals of our Alma Mater, Morong High School.

 Mabuhay ang Morong High School Alumni Association!

 Bilang isa sa mga direktor ng samahan ng Kulturang Pilipino sa mga karatig bayan ng Tampa Bay, Florida, ay aking iminungkahi sa komite at namamahala sa pagbibigay papuri sa mga nagawa sa kabutihan at kaunlaran ng isang kumyunidad ang dalawang mabuting tao na may ginto ang mga puso.  Naging tanyag ang mga nagawa ng mga taong ito ng ang isang Malaking "Bayanihan Arts Center" ay naitayo sa pamamagitan ng kanilang walang pagod na pagtulong sa paglikom ng pondo at kawang-gawa.

Mga kaiskwela, kababayan at kaibigan:  Pagmasdan po ninyo ang lugar na ating pagdarausan ng ating pagdiriwang - ito ay isa sa mga bunga ng walang hanggang pagtulong na nagawa ng mga taong aking iminungkahi sa inyo.  Lalo pong magandang suriin ang mga nagawa nila sapagkat tuwi silang tumutulong sa Philippine Cultural Foundation ay lagi silang magkasama. Sila po ay matatag na kasapi at opisyal ng MHSAA Florida at lalong matatag na maginoo at maybahay, mapagmahal na magulang at mabuting kristyano.

 Si Rudy, Class 1962, at si Lucy Francisco Bautista, Class 1967, ay lalong nakilala ng mga taga ibang States dahil sa kanilang pamamanihala ng bunyag at masayang Philippine Festival of Florida.  Si Lucy ay dalawang taong sunod na nangasiwa ng formal Sampaguita Ball, na siyang pinakakatawan ng Bayanihan Arts Center Fund Raising Campaign. Si Rudy, over all Chairman of PhilFest 2002-2003, ay isa sa mga kasapi sa Board ng Foundation.

Salamat, Rudy at Lucy, ang inyong Morong-style bayanihan spirit ay nagsisilbing inspirasyon sa iba't ibang samahan dito sa ating lugar. Laging nababanggit sa mga pagpaparangal ang inyong kabutihan at ang inyong pinag-aralang Mataas na Paaralan ng Morong. Ito ay isang malaking pagpuri hindi lamang sa inyong pamilya, kundi sa ating paaralan at sa ating Inang Bayan -- Morong, Rizal.  Sa pagpupuri at pagbibigay galang ay taos puso ko pong iminungkahi sa nasabing komite at pinaunlakan naman na sina Rudy at Lucy Bautista sa parangal na " Pagtulong sa Kummunidad" Community Service Award.  Salamat Po at Mabuhay!

“Outstanding Service” Award – Rogelio Arcia, Class 1960 
Northern California Chapter

Since the formation of the Morong High School Alumni Association in Northern California in the late seventies, Rogelio Arcia, Class 1960, served in various capacities, among them as the very first chapter secretary, then as President in 1993 to 1994, performing his leadership responsibilities with loyalty and integrity.  He continues to actively participate and guide the Association in many different ways.  As the Elections Chair in 2002, he developed the very first Elections Procedure that enabled the Chapter members to elect its 2003-2004 Officers by balloting, encouraging more participation in the process. As a Chapter adviser, he gives sound, unbiased opinions, fresh ideas and perspectives based on fairness and open mindedness, respectful of his fellow alumni.  He is a very enthusiastic, team player, always happy to lend a hand.  At the first Grand Alumni Reunion being held this coming August in Tampa, Florida, Rogelio provides strategic leadership as Co-Chair of the Advisory Council.  In addition, he supports the Souvenir Program Committee with his time-consuming role as an Adviser.

 As a past President and Adviser of the Progressive Youth of Morong in America (PYMA) in San Francisco, Rogelio is dedicated to the mission of the very first group of Moronguenos in the U.S. by reaching out to fellow Kababayans here and in our hometown.  He supports our schools in Morong through scholarships and tokens of recognitions.  Rogelio was the co-founder of the Morong Basketball League in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early eighties; today the league is well and alive in pursuing its objective of encouraging and teaching the young people the value of sportsmanship.

Other community organizations that Rogelio participates in are the Philippine Cultural & Historical Assn. of Hercules, Payapa Club and Friday Knights. A valedictorian of Class 1960, he went on to pursue a degree in Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at University of the Philippines, Los Banos.  He works as a Purchaser for the City & County of San Francisco, married to the former Vilma Pascual, Class 1963, a vice president for Wells Fargo Bank.  Vilma has served as treasurer of the Association for many years. They have two sons Rovil, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from San Jose State University, and Ramil, a Environmental Engineering graduate from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. 

 

“Outstanding Service” Award – Clem Gonzales, Class 1959
Southern California Chapter

From the time the Southern California Chapter was founded in 1981, Clem has been a dedicated, consistent leader, holding positions as board member and as a two-term Chapter President, from 1989 to 1992.  He introduced initiatives, among them the creation of class coordinators’ concept and election procedures that up to the present time are in place and being implemented by the Southern California Chapter.  He also played a vital role in the formation of the Association’s advisory council whose main function is to provide direction for the Grand Alumni Reunion being held in Tampa, Florida.  For his many achievements and contributions to the Association, he was recognized by the MHSAA Philippines, among them 1985 Medal of Appreciation, 1991 Plaque of Appreciation for the construction of the gate’s Arch Tower, and 1996 Service Award.  

Clem is an active community leader – President and Board Chairman of Teresa Association, U.S.A., founder and chairman of Residents of Prinza in U.S.A.  The Lion’s Club-Los Angeles recognized him as Outstanding Parent of the Year in 1997 and 1998.  He actively works on various civic and community projects.   

After graduation from Morong High School in 1959, Clem attended Araneta University, where he graduated with a BSAH degree in 1963.  Prior to coming to the U.S., he worked at the Bureau of Agricultural Extension as a Rural Youth Officer.  He attended graduate school of Animal Science in 1966-1967 at South Dakota State University.  He works as a Genetics Specialist with Kaiser Permanente Medical Group.  He is married to a high school classmate, the former Patria Tesoro, from Baras.  Pat also served as President in 1996 to 1997, and along with Clem, provide wholehearted dedication to the Morong High School Alumni Association! .  They are blessed with 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
